Jakarta, Indonesia – Muhammad Fazil Ihsan Lanasa and Said Rafi Aulia, students of MAN 4 Jakarta, have made a significant mark in the scientific community by securing a bronze medal at the Indonesian Science Project Olympiad (ISPO). The duo’s innovative research project titled “Modified Drone Integrated with Machine Learning-Based Object Detection for Enhanced Mobile Deforestation Analysis” earned them this prestigious accolade along with a prize of 2,000,000 rupiah.
Their project centers around a fixed-wing drone equipped with a HuskyLens machine learning AI object detection system and LoRa transmission technology. This advanced setup allows for
precise and efficient deforestation analysis, a critical tool in the fight against illegal logging and environmental degradation.
A standout feature of their drone is its 1.8-meter wingspan, which enhances lift and makes the drone more efficient in its operations. Additionally, the drone is equipped with an analog first- person view (FPV) video transmission system, providing an immersive experience for the pilot.
This setup enables real-time monitoring and precise maneuvering, crucial for detailed deforestation analysis.
The ISPO is a renowned platform that brings together young scientists from across Indonesia to present their groundbreaking research. The competition is known for its rigorous judging process, making Fazil and Rafi’s achievement all the more commendable. This accomplishment not only highlights the students’ hard work but also underscores the
potential of technology-driven solutions in addressing global environmental challenges.
